About the Opportunity
Kato Electrical is looking for full-time Electricians at various levels, including Foreman, Journeyperson, and 3rd/4th Year Apprentices, to join our growing team based in the Lower Mainland, BC. Projects range from institutional builds to high-end retail and tenant improvements, with long-term work security and strong growth potential.
Foreman
Reporting to the General Foreman and working closely with the General Manager, you will lead large-scale commercial projects from start to finish, ensuring high-quality delivery while mentoring your team on-site.
In this position, you will be primarily responsible for overseeing job sites, managing timelines and materials, and ensuring each project hits performance and profitability targets.
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Leading and mentoring a crew of electricians, including apprentices
- Managing labor, materials, inspections, and subcontractors through internal project tracking software
- Monitoring job costs and profitability to ensure projects stay within budget
- Ensuring quality control on conduit, distribution, low-voltage, and fire alarm installations
- Communicating clearly with clients, general contractors, and internal stakeholders
- Supporting company goals through efficient planning and hands-on leadership
Journeyperson Electrician
Reporting to the Foreman or Lead Hand, you will support commercial projects with hands-on expertise and mentorship of junior team members.
In this position, you will be primarily responsible for executing complex installations, assisting with site coordination, and maintaining high workmanship standards.
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Performing conduit and BX installations, with a strong focus on pipe bending
- Reading and interpreting blueprints and specifications
- Troubleshooting, testing, and resolving electrical faults in a commercial setting
- Supporting apprentices and assisting the Foreman with day-to-day site leadership
- Maintaining project tools, materials, and safety standards
3rd or 4th Year Apprentice
Reporting to the Foreman or Lead Hand, you will build your hands-on experience on custom commercial sites while developing key technical skills.
In this position, you will be primarily responsible for assisting in electrical installations and learning advanced techniques like pipe bending and commercial rough-ins.
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Installing surface mount and underground wiring and conduit
- Assisting with low-voltage, lighting, and distribution systems
- Practicing proper safety and code compliance under guidance
- Developing strong fundamentals in commercial electrical work
- Supporting the crew with job site setup, maintenance, and inventory
About You
To qualify, you will need to be a certified Electrician or actively enrolled as a 3rd or 4th Year Apprentice, with hands-on experience in commercial electrical work. A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle will be highly regarded for all roles.
Foreman
- Valid Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician certification
- 2+ years of experience running commercial electrical projects
- Proficiency with project tracking software for managing materials, labor, and timelines
- Comfortable reviewing material pricing and job profitability
- Strong leadership and communication skills to coordinate with crews, contractors, and clients
- Broad commercial expertise including conduit, fire alarms, low voltage, distribution, and lighting systems
Journeyperson Electrician
- Valid Journeyperson Electrician certification (Red Seal is an asset)
- 3 to 5 years of experience on commercial or institutional projects
- Proficient in pipe bending, BX, and conduit installations
- Skilled in reading blueprints, troubleshooting systems, and mentoring apprentices
- Interest in stepping into a Lead Hand or site leadership role is a plus
3rd or 4th Year Apprentice
- Registered in a recognized electrical apprenticeship program
- Prior hands-on experience on commercial job sites
- Foundational knowledge of electrical systems and safety practices
- Pipe bending experience or a strong willingness to learn
- Eagerness to grow within a long-term, team-oriented environment

About the Benefits
Compensation is negotiable based on skills and experience and includes competitive hourly wages and performance-based incentives.
Foreman: $40–$50 per hour, plus performance-based profit sharing per project. Depending on job success, Foremen have earned $8,000 to $16,000 in additional payouts per project!
Journeyperson: $38–$45 per hour, with flexibility for the right candidate and potential for advancement into Lead Hand roles.
3rd or 4th Year Apprentice: $32–$42 per hour
